Osteomyelitis

Aug, 2020

Dear Dr Mesen,

It’s been just over a year since my stem cell transplant and a year to the day that I was hospitalized for osteomyelitis in my right ulna. This photo was taken three months ago.
I truly think my hip labrum is better. I no longer limp and have very little pain. I have developed bursitis in both hips and have generalized joint stiffness in hips and right hand/wrist that lessens with movement. I still lack 30 degrees or so of forearm pronation and continue to improve by doing daily handstands and yoga.
I was in your beautiful country to co-lead a women’s retreat in March and just made it home before the pandemic hit. I almost wish I’d been trapped in Costa Rica!
I hope you both are well. People love to hear my stories about the beautiful, compassionate, personable doctors who treated me in Costa Rica last summer. I will be forever grateful.

Namaste,

Carol Paysinger Riley
